SUMMARY:Rifle Marksmanship Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Alaska Rifle Club is excited to offer a Rifle Marksmanship clinic in partnership with Birchwood. We’ll begin with a brief overview of service rifles and discuss how the clinic applies rifle marksmanship fundamentals to individuals who are familiar with the basics of rifle shooting and want to enhance their skills. This course is designed to take participants to the next level of proficiency. The discipline taught in this course has produced some of the greatest shooters in this country\, such as Gunnery Sergeant Carlos Hathcock and David Tubb. By attending this class\, participants will gain all the tools necessary to succeed at events from local club matches to Camp Perry Nationals and achieve the status of Distinguished Rifleman and High Master. \nSunday we will be offering a second optional session to put all the skills you just learned into practice from 1pm – 5pm. Free of charge! \nYou’ll learn:-Fundamentals of marksmanship-How to use the rifle sling to your advantage-How to master standing\, sitting and prone positions-Mental strategies for repeatable shot execution-Shoot a fun 30 round match with awards for top adults and Junior shooters!-Tips and tricks from Distinguished Riflemen instructors (see their details below) who have won awards at national and regional competitions. \nThings to bring: Lunch and water. Dress in layers to be outside all day. Eye and ear protection. Rifle\, with sling and 100 rounds of ammunition. Ideal rifle would be AR-15/Modern Sporting Rifle with 2 or 3 magazines\, optic or iron sights but any rifle\, even rimfire\, is acceptable. All shooting will be at 100 yards.  \nBring if you have it: competitive shooting gear such as spotting scope\, folding stool\, mat\, shooting coat (or heavier jacket like Carhartt – inexpensive elbow or knee pads for elbows highly recommended)\, shooting glove\, etc). Instructors and other students will be able to share some of this equipment if you don’t have it. \nAlaska Rifle Club will assist shooters with a borrowed rifle and recommend ammunition to purchase. Sponsorships for Junior shooters (ages 12-20) available. A parent must attend class and be on the range with any minor participant. DESCRIPTION:Please come at 5pm if you can to help with setup! \nThis is a 30-round plus 5 sighters “across the course” rifle shoot on a lighted 100-yard range. This is a fun match (scores not reported to NRA or CMP) but will follow the CMP As-Issued Military Rifle course of fire: 5 sighting shots\, 10 prone slow fire shots\, 10 prone rapid fire shots\, 10 standing slow fire shots. Sporting/hunting rifles will shoot 8 round strings or can shoot fewer rounds if you like. Pretty much any safe centerfire or rimfire rifle is fine to bring. \nNon BRSP Members welcome. DESCRIPTION:Match 2 of 7. Welcome to the Birchwood Rimfire Precision Rifle League! This is a multi-stage 22LR match series shooting steel targets at distances up to 200 yards (100 yds for the winter season). \nThis fun\, action packed match has multiple targets on each stage\, at varying distances of 15 to 200 yards. Seasoned PRS competitors often use additional equipment such as bags\, wind meters\, bipods\, and other gear If you don’t have any of those things\, please do not be intimidated. Our competitors are very friendly and are often more than willing to share gear. This is a great opportunity to try gear to find out what you may want to purchase. \nPlease review the Precision Rifle Series Rimfire Rulebook https://prs-website-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/public/prs_rules_rimfire.pdf  to find which division you qualify for (Production or Open) and if you qualify as a Senior\, Junior\, Lady\, or Military/LE. League shooters will be required to register with PRS22.  If you are registered with the PRS22\, then your scores will be submitted there as well.  https://www.precisionrifleseries.com/memberships. You can select rimfire only\, or one of the combinations if you have centerfire aspirations.  Please enter your PRS# on the Practiscore registration. \nBolt action rifles with scopes equipped with adjustable turrets are strongly recommended\, but not required.  Each match has multiple distances\, so without adjustable scopes\, you will have to “hold over” small targets.  For this type of shooting\, a First Focal Plane (FFP) scope is ideal. \nBRSP Members and non-members are welcome. Everyone must be checked in at the main clubhouse prior to 6pm\, and assembled at D Range by 6:15pm. The mandatory safety brief will be held at 6:15pm sharp. Help setting up earlier and staying to tear down is very much appreciated. The league fee is $180 total for BRSP Members. $210\nfor non-members. DESCRIPTION:Match 3 of 8. Welcome to the Birchwood Rimfire Precision Rifle League! This is a multi-stage 22LR match series shooting steel targets at distances up to 200 yards (100 yds for the winter season). \nThis fun\, action packed match has multiple targets on each stage\, at varying distances of 15 to 200 yards. Seasoned PRS competitors often use additional equipment such as bags\, wind meters\, bipods\, and other gear If you don’t have any of those things\, please do not be intimidated. Our competitors are very friendly and are often more than willing to share gear. This is a great opportunity to try gear to find out what you may want to purchase. \nPlease review the Precision Rifle Series Rimfire Rulebook https://prs-website-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/public/prs_rules_rimfire.pdf  to find which division you qualify for (Production or Open) and if you qualify as a Senior\, Junior\, Lady\, or Military/LE. League shooters will be required to register with PRS22.  If you are registered with the PRS22\, then your scores will be submitted there as well.  https://www.precisionrifleseries.com/memberships. You can select rimfire only\, or one of the combinations if you have centerfire aspirations.  Please enter your PRS# on the Practiscore registration. \nBolt action rifles with scopes equipped with adjustable turrets are strongly recommended\, but not required.  Each match has multiple distances\, so without adjustable scopes\, you will have to “hold over” small targets.  For this type of shooting\, a First Focal Plane (FFP) scope is ideal. \nBRSP Members and non-members are welcome. Everyone must be checked in at the main clubhouse prior to 6pm\, and assembled at D Range by 6:15pm. The mandatory safety brief will be held at 6:15pm sharp. Help setting up earlier and staying to tear down is very much appreciated. The league fee is $180 total for BRSP Members. $210\nfor non-members.  After the 2nd week\, non-league shooters are welcome for $30 per match.  If you switch to league\, you’ll be refunded $10. \nDates are: Oct 25\, Nov 8\,22\, Dec 6\, Jan 3\, Jan 17\, 31\, Feb 21. There will also be a Winter Finale sanctioned Regional match on February 25th that is separate from the league. \n \nPRS22 utilizes an online system called Practiscore for registration\, live match scoring\, and published results. Match booklets will be published typically about a week in advance. Show time 10:30\, start time 11:00. Round count will be approximately 35-40 rifle plus 35-40 pistol. Recommend minimum 50 of each to allow for making up missed shots. \nThis is a 3-stage vintage 2-gun fun match. It’s based on scenarios which may be encountered during a Field Training Exercise (FTX). For the purpose of this match\, the Cold War Period is defined as 1947 (release of the Truman Doctrine) through 1989 (the fall of the Berlin Wall). \nTo satisfy period correct requirements for bonus scoring\, firearms and uniforms must be those regularly used or worn by military personnel of any nation during this time period. This includes faithful replicas of the same. Firearms that don’t fall into this period may still be shot in Open Division. Those choosing to shoot wearing a complete uniform (tops and bottoms_ from this period will also be given a bonus on their score. A designated Match Official will be the arbitrator of correctness. \nSuppressors will be permitted on rifles and pistols for this match. No rifle slings may be used during the course of fire. Slings may remain on the rifle if they do not interfere with safe gun handling\, Holsters may be worn\, but there is no drawing or reholstering on the clock during a stage. No magnum calibers\, no bottleneck pistol calibers (including 7.62x25mm Tokarev). No AP\, penetrator\, tracer\, or incendiary ammo\, Bi-metal jacket ammo\, including 7.62x39mm\, is allowed.
